- Lessons/Classes are held on request. Please call the shop to schedule your date and time. The cost of a lesson is $25 (unless otherwise noted) and typically last one hour. Lessons are available on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, with occasional evening openings. Below is a list of classes we currently offer. If you have an idea or suggestion for a class, please feel free to let us know!
Little Kindness Monster Workshop: Show someone you care in February by making them a Little Kindness Monster. This is a free workshop… simply bring some leftover yarn and your needles, we will provide stuffing and eyes for your monster. These are super fun to make and even more fun to give… who doesn’t deserve a little kindness?

Beginning Knitting: This class is for our fumbled fingered friends who don’t think that they can knit. Class covers all the essentials to start and finish a scarf. No one will be left behind in this class! You will learn how to cast-on, knit, purl and bind-off. We will not be starting a project in this class but you will leave with the experience to start and finish a scarf. No experience required.
Fingerless Mitts: Keep your hands warm and your fingers free with fingerless mitts. Learn to knit with DPN’s, magic loop, 2 circulars or 9″ needles.
Socks: Learn how to make a sock from the cuff down with our beginning sock class. You will learn all the elements of knitting a sock while creating an adorable mini sock. Everything you learn in this class will enable you to create baby to adult size socks
(Top Down or Toe Up socks on 2 circulars, 9″ round needles, DPN’s or magic loop are sock classes that are available. $25 per session, more than one session may be needed)
Knitting 102… Making a hat or cowl in the round: Level up from beginning knitting and learn how to knit in the round and make a hat.
Beginning Fair Isle: Tired of knitting with only one color? This class will teach you how to incorporate two or more colors while making a fair isle hat or cowl. You will also learn how to knit jogless stripes.
Lace & Beads Do you look at lace knitting and wish you could knit like that? Now you can! Lace is easier than it looks and we are even adding beads. Learn how to read charts, accomplish lace AND add beads to your knitting without having the strand them. This is a great class, even for advanced beginners.
Create your own class: Perhaps you have a few friends who want to take the same class but you don’t see it listed? Give us a call! We are happy to set up private or group classes for whatever you want to learn. Availability on most weekdays, weekends and some evenings for knitting. Private Classes: We offer private lessons at times that are convenient for you. Private classes are $15 for 30 minutes or $25 for an hour. Simply call the shop to sign up.
All class prices include the pattern, supplies are not included (except for beginning knitting & beginning crochet) and are given a 15% discount at the time of purchase.
To register for a class, call or stop by Rainy Day Yarns. Payment is required to reserve your spot. Class minimum is 3, maximum is 6. Students may cancel a class for a full refund up to 48 hours prior to class date. After that, cancellations (or a no show) will not be refunded as it may cause the cancellation of a class. Instructors put a lot of time and effort into preparing and traveling to each class and will still receive their fee from late cancellations. If a class is cancelled by an instructor, or Rainy Day Yarns, you will receive a full refund.
