Classes and Workshops

KNITTING CLASSES:  (Unless otherwise noted, fees are for one session only)

  • May through September, classes are held on request for the summer months.  Private lessons are always available.

Beginning Knitting:  This class is for our fumbled fingered friends who don’t think that they can knit. Class covers all the essentials to start and finish a scarf.  No one will be left behind in this class!  You will learn how to cast-on, knit, purl and bind-off.  We will not be starting a project in this class but you will leave with the experience to start and finish a scarf.  No experience required.

Beginning Fair Isle:  Tired of knitting with only one color?  This class will teach you how to incorporate two or more colors while making a fair isle hat or cowl.  You will also learn how to knit jogless stripes.

Lace & Beads:  Do you look at lace knitting and wish you could knit like that? Now you can! Lace is easier than it looks and we are even adding beads. Learn how to read charts, accomplish lace AND add beads to your knitting without having the strand them. This is a great class, even for advanced beginners.

Create your own class:  Perhaps you want to take a specific class by yourself?  Perhaps you have a few friends who want to take the same class but you don’t see it listed?  Give us a call!  We are happy to set up private or group classes for whatever you want to learn.  Availability on most weekdays and weekends for knitting.  Crochet classes are available most weekends and Monday or Wednesday.  253-514-6890.  Prices vary by class so give us a call.

Beginning Crochet:  Learn all the basics of crochet!  No experience required.


Crochet 102:  Take your crochet skills to the next level and create a hat.  This class takes you beyond the basic crochet stitches and dishcloths.

Tunisian 101:  Do you love the look of knitting but don’t want to learn how to knit?  Take your crocheting to the next level by learning Tunisian Crochet.    This class teaches you the basics of Tunisian crochet by creating a cup cozy.  This class is a requirement to the next step of Tunisian 102.  Pattern provided.


Tunisian 102:  Take your crochet skills to the next level and challenge yourself to learn something new.  You will learn how to advance your Tunisian Crochet skills by making a beautiful headband.  Makes a quick and easy gift for the holidays.  Skills needed:  basic crochet and tunisian knowledge.

Crochet Oma Slippers:   Do you remember grandmas crochet slippers that she wore all the time?  Now you can learn to make a fun, quick pair of your own.  These are great for throwing in your purse, tote, project bag or suitcase for taking anywhere.  Must be able to work basic crochet stitches to take this class.


Tunisian Blanket:  In this class you will be making a beautiful Tunisian Entrelac Blanket.  It looks a lot more complicated than it actually is and it’s very addicting once you start!  You will learn how to make rows and get the skills you need to make a blanket.  You will need to have taken Tunisian 101 or know basic Tunisian stitches (tss).  Pattern provided.

Corner to Corner (C2C) Washcloth/Blanket:  This is a very popular and fun project to make right now as you will be learning how to make a dishcloth from one corner to the other.  You will leave with the knowledge on how to take this dishcloth and turn it into a blanket also!  Come and learn this new and fun technique in crochet!  You must already know basic crochet for this class (ch, sl st, dc).

Private Classes:  Want to learn something new but don’t like a large class setting?  We offer private lessons at times that are convenient for you.  Private classes are $15 for 30 minutes or $25 for an hour.  Simply call the shop to sign up.

Private Group ClassesDo you have a group of 2 or more friends that want to take a class together?  It’s easy, simply call us and let us know what class, date and time you want… we will make it work.  Rates vary on size of class and techniques learned.

All class prices include the pattern, supplies are not included (except for beginning knitting & beginning crochet) and are given a 15% discount at the time of purchase. 

To register for a class, call or stop by Rainy Day Yarns.  Payment is required to reserve your spot.  Class minimum is 3, maximum is 6.  Students may cancel a class for a full refund up to 48 hours prior to class date.  After that, cancellations (or a no show) will not be refunded as it may cause the cancellation of a class.  Instructors put a lot of time and effort into preparing and traveling to each class and will still receive their fee from late cancellations.   If a class is cancelled by an instructor, or Rainy Day Yarns, you will receive a full refund.
